All kitchens should have range hoods, as they are able to aid in the reduction of pollutants from kitchen air; also, they are very vital when it comes luxury and welfare. If a kitchen range is set up correctly, it enhances your cooking experience by releasing any hot air or cooking odors to the outside in addition to retaining grease-free kitchen surfaces.

The range of hoods can range from the basic ductless wall-mount types, to systems with lights, timers, and easy-clean surfaces. They come in many styles and materials such as copper and stainless steel.

An important thing to consider when choosing the right kind of kitchen range hood for your kitchen is your current ventilation system. Next would be the size, location, and the quality of the range hood that you are looking for. Some range hoods offer great charcoal filtration others have more cost efficient have fans built in to push hot air towards your ceilings.

There are two main types of range hoods – venting and recirculating (or non-venting). A venting range hood is a bit more complicated to install in that it requires a connection to an exhaust duct. The non-venting range hood simply blows the air back into the room, and all it requires is an electrical connection. This is thought to be the most simple, yet effective range hood system.

Some hoods, such as the slimline variety, can be concealed away, under cabinets, and then be slid when needed. Another type can be used as a microwave shelf with the fans that provide ventilation fixed below.

Additional hood types consist of downdraft and updraft systems. Updraft systems pull the air through a filter then vent it along ductwork to the outside. Downdraft systems are typically found near the burners on a stove top, and these draw air in through a filter towards the ductwork by using one or several fans.

The hood or vent should be at least as wide as the range top and if you are designing a kitchen range hood you should select the ventilator unit first. The range hood should be designed to permit enough room for the ventilator and ductwork required to vent to the outside.

An important aspect, to keep the range hood working effectively is maintenance. They need to be cleaned regularly to remove dust and grease from the fans and filters. They can often be simply cleaned with a sponge and soapy water and wiped dry. Never use abrasive pads or scouring cleaners. The metal mesh filters can be immersed in a cleaning solution for several minutes and then taken out and wiped dry.
